So today saw Rishi announce more further updates, not all good unfortunately!
1. Furlough scheme – this has now been extended all the way until March 2021!
- Does this mean they expect lockdown to go past 4th December? Maybe
- Will the furlough extension continue to be at 80% – not sure yet, it hasn’t been clarified
2. Job Retention Bonus – the £1000 bonus due Jan/Feb time has been scrapped, sorry.
- Their words on this “The purpose of the JRB was to encourage employers to keep people in work until the end of January. However, as the CJRS is being extended to the end of March, the policy intent of the JRB falls away. “
3. Self-employment Grant – this has been increased yet again, from 55% to 80% for the Nov to Jan quarter
